Golf
The Duke has easy access to a variety of Golf courses, from beginner to professional. All within a 30 minute drive from the hotel. These are are just a selection of the closest courses that Devon and Cornwall has to offer. We have local highlights such as St Mellion, Boringdon Park and China Fleet. A little further afield you have Dainton Park and Woodbury Park. We welcome national and international golfing guests , who experience the warm welcome and enjoyable surroundings of the hotel and Plymouth’s convenient position to so many great courses.
Over 150 Years of Luxury
Dating back to 1863, the Duke stands as an iconic piece of Plymouth’s history and has some fascinating stories to tell. Created as the city’s first luxury hotel, the building was designed to project Victorian grandeur and splendour. With so much of what surrounded it destroyed in the war, the Duke’s survival leaves its architectural merit even more apparent. Stepping into the hotel’s grand entrance, you also step back in time. Considerate restorations mean the Duke’s original grace and character can continue to be enjoyed today.
